Flag Retirement Ceremony

Our BSA_Ghiloni Park Hike was a great adventure. We took photos of the wildlife that we encountered on our journey. We used the online topographic map to navigate with compass along the route from the trail head through the woods to several geocache spots and finally out to Gerry and Bob's house for a refreshing swim in their pool. The scouts cooked lunch on the stoves they backpacked while on the hike. The stoves were purchased with money they earned from the Saturday Bottle Redemption at the Hudson Transfer Station.

The hotest Veterans fishing derby on record. Thanks to all the Scouts from both Hudson and Marlboro who helped make the day for our retired, disabled and homeless veterans. See the photos.

Memorial Day was a success thanks to the participation of scouts and families. See the photos.

We hiked Mount Ward Reservation. We identified poisonous plants common to our area. Scouts found several difficult geocaches. They cooked lunch from their backpacks on the camping stoves each patrol has purchased. We found prints from a badger or fisher. We saw coyote scat on the trail. We found a hawk feather. One scout lashed a camp gadget. The Troop practiced leave no trace by cleaning the trail of trash, bottles, metal grills, and tire rims we found on the way. All before 2PM. This was the best Memorial weekend hike we have had that anyone can remember.

Mike Volk is awarded the "Spark Plug" for his work in scouting.

May 18th Thanks to the Scouts of Troop 77 for placing new flags on the graves of the Veterans.

Great job at the Hale Reservation Orienteering Camporee.
Troop 77 won the "O" beating older troops with more scouts.

Be prepared to use your compass!

On Saturday March 22, we took out our compasses and the Scouts of Troop 77 hiked Cider Knoll today at 10AM. The Scouts saw a pair of swans on the pond. They touched the tree that connected the Beaver Hut to the bank. They were given a rare close encounter with a Turkey Vulture. They saw a squadron of Mallards do a fly by, or away from them. They found 4 geocaches some of which have been elusive for years! They had a great time trying to start a fire in the woods with sticks, in an attempt to start the stove. Everyone was home by 2PM fed and happy.

Great job guys!

Disabilities Awareness Merit Badge has been earned by most of the troop thanks to Frank Noyes of the Hudson ADA Committee, Nancy and Rosanne from Early Intervention, and National Association of Parents of the Visually Impaired (NAPVI & MAPVI) board member Susan Rawley.
